Coffee Sunday

This Sunday, June 14 will be our monthly Coffee Sunday after all morning Masses (8am, 10am, 12pm).  Please come and get to know your fellow parishioners while enjoying free coffee and treats donated by Hill’s Bakery and Cob’s Bread on Kensington.  Thanks to parishioners who are also baking some treats for us.  We look forward to seeing you!

Distribution of St. Anthony’s Bread

Many of you know that June 13 is the feast day of St. Anthony of Padua, but have you heard about St. Anthony’s Bread? This weekend after all Masses (including at the 9 am morning Mass on Saturday), St. Anthony’s bread will be distributed to each family (breaking one bread!). Find out more about St. Anthony’s bread: The Legend of St. Anthony’s Bread | Faith Magazine.

We are grateful to Dino for his dedication and contribution to our Holy Cross Community and wish him a well-deserved rest during his retirement.  Beginning September 1st, Joseph Villella will assume a new position as part-time PREP Coordinator. Mr. Villella will continue to work as a full-time teacher at our school.

Project Advance 2026 Appeal

This annual Appeal provides critical funding to key ministries and projects, not only in the Archdiocese of Vancouver, but also in our very own parish.  Our Archdiocesan goal for the current year is $60,000; however, we are hoping to raise $100,000.

The funds generated above our diocesan goal will help us:

  • Pay off our loan (which is $2,457,000). This loan was taken to help us pay for the seismic upgrade and renovations of our school. Our monthly payment is $25,000.
  • Support our Youth Ministry
  • Support our Alpha Program

You can contribute to Project Advance online at projectadvance.ca or by phone at 604-299-3814, or in-person at our parish office.  Building and forming our parish community is only possible with your donation.  We are most grateful for your ongoing support.

Vocation Live-in Weekend

There will be a Vocation Live-In on the weekend of July 4-5 at the Seminary of Christ the King in Mission, BC. Anyone wishing to enter the Seminary in the next couple of years is welcome. For more information phone 604-826-8975 or email rector.minors@sck.ca
