About
We are a Catholic Bible study group meeting in the church basement on Wednesday evenings. We study the bible using the Great Adventure Bible Study Series by Jeff Cavins. “The Great Adventure is a uniquely Catholic Bible study that follows the principles prescribed in the Catechism of the Catholic Church and Dei Verbum (The Second Vatican Council’s Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation).” He includes the historical and cultural backgrounds and consideration of the styles of writing in the Bible to help us better understand what we are studying.
This is a guided study course, where each week we study a section of the bible and complete questions getting us to reflect on our reading. We gather for prayer, hear a video talk by Jeff Cavins and have a discussion on the part of the Bible we have read.
Many of us have tried reading the Bible on our own, but through our weekly sessions we are discovering the bible together and studying it through the eyes of the Catholic Church. Regular reference and discussion of the Catechism of the Catholic Church is part of the study.
- Wednesdays 7:30 pm in the basement of Holy Cross Church, October to May
