CWL MEMBERSHIP DRIVE

Our CWL is holding their annual membership drive after every Mass on the weekend of November 19 and 20 and new members are welcome to join. Your support of our CWL Council by joining our Council or renewing your membership is very much appreciated.  If you or your friend or family member wants to join or know more about the CWL, please visit our CWL table in the lobby of the Church. You can also go to our National website where there are some brief stories and videos to inspire at https://cwl.ca

For 2022-2023, our CWL membership fee is $40.00.  Please pay by cheque (payable to Holy Cross CWL).  If you are not able to pay by cheque, please pay by cash (and put the $40.00 cash in an envelope with your name, address, phone number and email address on the front of the envelope.)  If you are not able to attend mass this weekend, please drop off your payment at the Parish Office or put it in the collection basket as soon as possible (make sure to label your envelope CWL).

RELIGIOUS ARTICLES

If you are looking for something to help you or your family live your faith in the upcoming Advent season, the CWL is selling religious Christmas cards and Christmas themed religious articles at the back of the Church after the 5:00 pm Mass this Saturday (November 19) and after the 8:00 am, 10:00 am & 12:00 pm Masses on Sunday (November 20).  At this time, we can accept only cheque or cash for payment.

2023 SUNDAY MISSALS, CHILDRENS MISSALS AND LITTLE BOOKS

The 2023 Sunday Missals and the Little Books for Advent and Christmas are available for sale in the back of the church. The Sunday Missals are $4.00 each, the Children’s Missals are $7.00 each and the Little Books are $2.00 each.  Please place the money in the brown box.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

There will be a Pancake breakfast this Sunday November 20th after the 8am and 10am masses.

YOUTH GROUP

Please tell all the young people that we are starting a Youth Group at Holy Cross.  All young people in grade 6 to grade 12 are invited to Youth Ministry Night on Friday December 2nd at 6:30 pm in the Holy Cross School Gym.  We will have fun activities for all the different age groups (grades 6 & 7, grades 8 & 9 and grades 10 to 12).  Of course, there will also be pizza and snacks!

There will be someone giving out flyers after every Mass this weekend.  Please take one per family and share it with your family and friends.

HOMELESS PROGRAM – THANK YOU

Thank you for your donations.  It was received just in time.  For some reason, the shelters & the centers we normally visit ran dry in their donation supply this year.  In spite of that, we did our best as a parish community to help them.  So, we distributed your donations to the following places we visited in the Downtown Eastside: the Door is Open (ran by the Archdiocese & the Carmelite Sisters with hrs from 9 am – 12 pm weekdays), the Women’s Emergency Shelter (24 hrs), and the Women’s Center (a drop-in center for women with hrs from 10 am – 4 pm daily).  As we left the Downtown Eastside, we continued onward and delivered the remainder of the donations at the following locations we visited: the Catholic Charities Men’s Shelter (ran by the Archdiocese with hrs from 4 pm – 11 pm nightly), Belkin House Homeless Shelter (24 hrs), the Gathering Place (a community center for the homeless with hrs from 10 am – 8 pm daily), and the Yukon Homeless Shelter (24 hrs).  Depending on the service hours at each site, the homeless can ask for your donations as needed.  Also, the staff at the different sites were very thankful to receive the donations in a timely manner.  Once again, thank you for your support.

SCHOOL FUNDRAISER SAT NOV 19TH

Come and enjoy a fun evening of beer tasting from the best local breweries from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Saturday November 19th in the School Gym. There is a buffet dinner following the beer tasting and dinner and dancing afterwards.  Tickets are $60.00 and are available from the School office.  Please come and enjoy a fun evening with our Holy Cross Community!

CHRISTMAS MIDNIGHT MASS CHOIR

Our Christmas Midnight Mass choir has started practicing for Christmas. Musicians and those who would like to sing with us in the choir are welcome. Face masks are not required but please wear one if you feel more comfortable.
