SHARE CHRISTMAS

We are in the Season of Advent and Christmas and, with that, comes the awareness of sharing and giving.  With that thought in mind, we are beginning our annual Share Christmas campaign. As in the past, proceeds will be going to the Sisters in the Downtown Eastside.  The campaign for “Share Christmas” will run from NOV 27 – DEC 11.  To keep things simple, we are requesting cash donations or cheques payable to Holy Cross.  If you would like to help the Sisters, please place your donation in an envelope clearly marked “Share Christmas” and deposit it in the collection basket in the lobby of the church before Mass begins.  If you are unable to attend a Sunday Mass, or a morning Mass, you can certainly come to the Parish Office and leave it there.  Your cash donation, regardless of denomination, will be most graciously received by the Sisters in Downtown Eastside and most certainly used to help bring nourishment and joy to those whom they serve. Also, if you would like to receive a tax receipt, please write your name, address, & the amount on the envelope.

PRISON MINISTRY – Christmas Cards and 2023 Calendars

Beginning this weekend, we will be collecting unused Christmas cards and calendars for 2023.  Calendars can be wall, desk or appointment calendars without coils.  Donations should have a modest theme.  Please put the cards and calendars in the boxes in the lobby of the Church.

2023 WALL CALENDARS

2023 wall calendars from Bell Burnaby and Kearney are available to pick up in the lobby of the Church.

2023 SUNDAY MISSALS, CHILDRENS MISSALS AND LITTLE BOOKS

The 2023 Sunday Missals and the Little Books for Advent and Christmas are available for sale in the back of the church. The Sunday Missals are $4.00 each, the Children’s Missals are $7.00 each and the Little Books are $2.00 each.  Please place the money in the brown box.

YOUTH GROUP

Please tell all the young people that we are starting a Youth Group at Holy Cross.  All young people in grade 6 to grade 12 are invited to Youth Ministry Night on Friday December 2nd at 6:30 pm in the Holy Cross School Gym.  We will have pizza, snacks and fun activities for all the different age groups (grades 6 & 7, grades 8 & 9 and grades 10 to 12).

There will be a sign up table at the back of church this weekend and also someone to answer any questions. You can also sign up with the link https://tinyurl.com/hcymburnaby

HOLY CROSS ELEMENTARY – KINDERGARTEN

Holy Cross Elementary School will be accepting applications for prospective Kindergarten students for the September 2023 intake. Children born in 2018, who will be 5 years of age, are eligible to enter Kindergarten in September.  If you are interested in having your child attend Holy Cross, please complete the application form on the school website and return it with a copy of your child’s birth certificate, Baptismal certificate (if baptised Catholic) and any other documents as outlined on the form. All documents and a $25 non-refundable application fee, payable by cash or cheque, are to be submitted to the school office from November 28th to December 9th between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Families selected for an interview are expected to attend an in-person interview on January 6, 2023. Appointment times are to be determined.
