Ukrainian Collections Final Update

I would like to inform you that the Ukrainian war refugees we sponsored in Poland have returned to their country.  This decision was made based on two things:  1) the area from which they came has been liberated and 2) they wanted to be united as a family again with their husbands/fathers.  Only one young man (19) has decided to stay in Poland, as he has been accepted to attend an engineering school. These people are ever so grateful to us for supporting them during those difficult moments in their lives.

As at the end of August we collected $42,085. The expenses incurred during their stay in Poland was:  Rental of two apartments $7,063. The remaining funds of $35,022 was transferred through to the Salvatorian Mission Outreach in Poland to the Salvatorian Parishes in the Western Ukraine.  They have been supporting local shelters for the refugees and need to purchase basic equipment such as mattresses, washing machines, stoves, etc.  They have also been helping to purchase and transport medical equipment greatly needed for their local hospitals.

Thank you very much for your generous support of the Ukrainian people.  Let us continue to pray for them to help overcome the challenging times still being experienced in their country!

The Parish office will be closed on Friday, September 30, observing the holiday of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Morning Mass on this day will be at 9:00 a.m.

Our sincere gratitude to all our Parishioners who have donated thus far.

To those who still wish to participate in the 2022 Project Advance Campaign, please contact the Holy Cross Parish Office for further information.  (All donations are Tax deductible.)

This weekend after each Mass, there will be volunteers in the back of the Church to answer any questions and to accept your donation.

Our next Great Adventure Bible Study Series will be on the 4 Epistles of St. Paul: Galatians, Ephesians, 1 Corinthians and Romans.  We will start the series with Galatians this fall.  St. Paul’s Letter to the Galatians answers the question “What must we do to be saved?” Sessions are every Wednesdays starting Oct 5 to Nov 23 at 7:30 pm.  Attend virtually by Zoom or in person in the Music Room.  Past participants may join again. For registration or more information, visit the table at the back of the Church after Mass or contact the Parish Office or Tito Macapinlac at or (604) 761-3135.

Please mark your calendars for our Super Bowl party on Sunday, February 12, 2023 and for our annual Holy Cross Golf Tournament on Friday, May 12, 2023.

After the October 1st and 2nd masses, Holy Cross students will be announcing the annual ‘Walk-In-the-Lawns’ Walkathon fundraiser to be held on Friday, October 7th.  After each mass, students will be at the back of church accepting donations to assist them in reaching their goal.
