RENOVATION AND SEISMIC PROJECT CAMPAIGN
You may have seen our update two weeks ago announcing that the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vancouver (RCAV) has approved the school’s renovation and seismic upgrade project. I’m excited to introduce you to our dedicated team of volunteers:
- Project (Building) Team: Led by CORE, and supported by Wesley Narciso (Chair), Justin Pedley, Kevin Gray, Peter Veltri, Dino Alberti and Fr. Kryzysztof (Chris) Pastuszka. This team will work on refining drawings and estimates for the school’s seismic upgrades and renovations.
- Capital Campaign Team: Dino Alberti (Chair), Renzo Barazzuol, Luciana Battista, Vu Le, Mike Maierle, and Tanya Ripoli, with support from our campaign counsel, Sarah Howard of Compton Fundraising Consultants. This group is focused on developing our campaign strategy, creating a recognition program, and designing a campaign brochure that details the project and our campaign goals. Additionally, this team will continue to refine the financial aspects of the project.
With RCAV approval in place, you might be wondering what happens next. As our team gets underway, we intend to share weekly updates with both our school and parish community. These updates will keep you informed about the project’s details and the campaign.
Stay tuned for more information next week!

Second Collection – the Needs of the Church in Canada
The Collection for the needs of the Church in Canada will take place on September 28-29. This annual initiative is an important opportunity for the faithful to actively support and assist the Bishops in their ministry of accompanying, teaching, guiding, sanctifying, and caring for the Church in Canada.
PARISH OFFICE CLOSED MONDAY SEPTEMBER 30
The Parish Office will be closed Monday September 30 for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Morning Mass will be at 9:00 am.
Homeless Program (OCT 5-6)
Beginning this year, our Homeless Program has a new weekend slot. It will take place only on the first weekend in October (OCT 5-6). Clear plastic bags are provided to help us sort through the donations and the bags can be picked up at the back of the church. Please put the men’s and women’s donations in separate bags. Only the following articles are needed: blankets, winter coats, gloves/mittens, boots, socks, toques, scarves and clothing. Please ensure your donations are in good condition and CLEAN and reusable. You are most welcome to donate new items. Please tag your donation bag “Homeless Men” or “Homeless Women” and place it near the homeless box at the inside entrance of the church. Since the homeless do not have a place to stay or live in shelters, they cannot accept either furniture or cooking utensils. Also, the shelters and the centers cannot accept children’s clothing because they serve only adults. For more information, please phone/text Dillon Fong (604-561-6918). Thank you for your support in reaching out to those in need.
Share Christmas 2024 – Boxes Needed
Share Christmas will commence on the 1st Sunday of Advent. We will be requesting food items like we did last year. In the meantime, we are asking parishioners to collect boxes that will help us transport your food to the Sisters in the Downtown Eastside. If you happen to shop at AAA, Red Apple, Save-On, Safeway, or Superstore, please ask the staff if they can donate one empty box (apple box preferred). If you are shopping at Costco, please ask the staff if you can take one empty tray (cucumbers, plum, kiwi, or tomato trays preferred). If you collect one box, as a parish community working together, we will collect enough boxes. Please place your empty box on the table (Share Christmas Boxes) at the back of the church. Your effort is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
PREP (Parish Religious Education Program)
PREP Registration is formally closed for the 2024/2025 year. Thank you to all the families for registering this year.
