NEW MUSIC HYMNALS
To quote St. Augustine: “to sing is to pray twice…”
We are announcing a new parish project to update our old music hymnals with the
newer Glory and Praise, 3rd edition.
Our current (2nd) edition is out of print and very old. The new hymnal will have more
music choices and the updated mass parts, current to the liturgical changes that took
place in accordance with the official texts of the Roman Missal in 2011.
Your participation is vital and greatly appreciated.
Please consider any of the following forms of sponsorship with your donation towards
this endeavor.
Donor families or individuals will get the opportunity to have a donor tag inserted in the
hymnal/s, as you wish.
Suggested sponsorship:
$40 – individual hymnal
$360 – Hymnals for one pew
$300 – Choir/Cantor Hymnals
$600 – Choir Instrument accompaniment set
Any amount you wish to donate is most welcome.
Volunteers will be in the lobby on Sundays: Oct 19th & 26th to accept donations
and help you with your pledge forms. You can contribute to this project with
payment: cash, cheque or credit card. Tax receipts will be issued at the end of the
year. It would speed up the process if you have/know your envelope #.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS HOMEMADE LASAGNA ORDERS
The Knights of Columbus will be in the lobby of the Church (Oct 18/19) after all
weekend Masses taking orders for homemade lasagna. You can support our Knights
of Columbus and buy a delicious lasagna to serve at your next special occasion dinner
or at a family dinner when you don’t have time to cook. The cost is $60.00 for a 9×13
pan and $25.00 for a smaller size. You can pay by cash, cheque or card. Pickup is on
Nov 15 th .
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
Our Knights of Columbus #5423 will hold a Membership Drive this weekend, October
18 and 19, after all masses. If you would like to register in advance for a free online

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS ANNUAL CHARITY APPEAL
Knights of Columbus Annual Charity Appeal is now live, draw date is December 13th.

First prize is a Ford Maverick Pickup and there are a number of cash and early bird
prizes. A portion of the ticket sales come back directly to our council to support the
various charities and ministries in our community.
HOMELESS PROGRAM
Thanks be to God and thank you to everyone who donated to our parish program. We
are grateful that you took the time and made the effort to wash, fold, bag, and bring
your clothing donations to the church. Also, we are thankful for all the clean footwear
and blanket donations. Likewise, we greatly appreciated all the new donations. Your
donated items were delivered to nine places: six locations in the Downtown Eastside
(DTES) and three locations outside the DTES area. Among the recipients were the
Door is Open, a Catholic Sister’s Convent, and the Catholic Charities Men’s Shelter.
The remaining recipients were three Emergency Shelters and three Community
Centers for the homeless. Once again, thank you for all your donations. Last, but not
least, we would like to thank all our volunteers who helped move the donations to the
church basement after the Sunday Masses and the volunteers who helped with the
delivery. Thank you everyone and God bless.

SHARE CHRISTMAS 2025 – BOXES NEEDED
Share Christmas will commence on the 1st Sunday of Advent (Nov 29-30). We will be
requesting food products like we did last year. In the meantime, we are asking
parishioners to collect boxes that will help us transport your food to the Sisters in the
Downtown Eastside. If you happen to shop at AAA, Red Apple, Save-On, Safeway, or
Superstore, please ask the staff if they can donate one empty box (apple box
preferred). If you are shopping at Costco, please ask the staff if you can take One
empty tray (cucumbers, plum, kiwi, or tomato trays preferred). If you collect one box,
as a parish community working together, we will be able to collect enough boxes.
Please place your empty box on the table (Share Christmas Boxes) at the back of the
church. Your effort is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
WORLD YOUTH DAY 2027 in SEOUL KOREA
Have you heard of World Youth Day (WYD)? Saint Pope John Paul II began this call to
all youth ages 18-35 to gather globally and Seoul, Korea is the next host from August
3-8, 2027. We are reaching out to see if we have interest from individuals and families
at our parish to attend this event. Even if you are undecided or may simply want to
know more about it first, we encourage you to get in touch. Our volunteers plan to hold
periodic meetings over the next two years to share information and prepare for the

HOLY CROSS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BLESSING
