NO COFFEE SUNDAY

Due to the unavailability of the school Gym, there is NO Coffee Sunday this weekend.  Thank you for joining us every second Sunday of each month throughout the year, and we look forward to seeing you all on Sunday, January 11, 2026!

SHARE CHRISTMAS THANK YOU

Thanks be to God! At the convent after receiving the parish donations, Mother Superior and her Sisters were beaming with joy. On behalf of her Sisters beside her, Mother Superior thanked our parish community for our generous contribution. Likewise, we would like to thank everyone who participated in our Share Christmas Program. Thank you to all the parishioners who took a card(s), made the time to shop, and waited patiently to drop off their food donations at our gym. Moreover, thank you to all who gave some non-food products. As for the money received through Share Christmas, all of it was given to Mother Superior in the presence of her Sisters and the Holy Cross Parish delivery volunteers who stayed behind after the truck was off-loaded. Last, but not least, we would like to thank all our volunteers (adults, university students, high school students, & Grade 7s) who sacrificed their time and energy for Share Christmas during the past two weekends. From those who set up our tree, to those who manned our info table, to those who set up our gym, to those who worked inside and outside our gym, to the truck driver, carpool drivers, loaders and off-loaders who moved your food donations to the convent in the Downtown Eastside, thank you everyone! Together, as a parish community, we brought God’s love to the Sisters. In addition, we would like to thank Home Hardware (Commercial & Graveley) for the Christmas tree and Penske Truck Rental (Norland Ave) for the use of their truck at a discounted rate. Once again, thank you everyone and have a blessed Christmas Season. Merry Christmas!

Poinsettias for the Church

If you would like to donate red poinsettias to decorate our Church for Christmas, please drop them off at the Parish Office on Monday December 15th and Tuesday December 16th.  You are also welcome to give cash for Christmas decorations for our Church.

CWL PURDY’S ORDER PICKUP on SUNDAY DEC 14 ONLY

You can pick up your Purdy’s chocolate order on Sunday December 14th after the 8:00 am, 10:00 am, 12:00 Noon and 5:00 pm Masses in the lobby of the Church.  Those orders that don’t get picked up on Sunday will be available to pick up from the Parish Office next week during office hours.

Your 2026 wall calendars from Bell & Burnaby and Kearney Funeral homes and your 2026 Sunday donation envelopes are ready for pickup in the Church lobby.  Please do not use the 2026 envelopes until January 1, 2026.

CHRISTMAS CARDS AND 2026 CALENDARS FOR THE PRISON MINISTRY

We are collecting 2026 calendars and unused Christmas cards, all occasion cards (i.e. Happy Birthday, Get Well Soon, etc.) for the Prison Ministry.  2026 calendars are especially needed.  Calendars can be wall, desk or appointment calendars without coils and should have a modest theme. Please put the cards and calendars in the boxes in the lobby of the Church.  (We will be collecting these items until early January 2026.)

ALPHA – STARTING JANUARY 9, 2026

Do you have big questions about the meaning of life? Do you want to learn more about what it means to follow Jesus? Do you want to grow in your faith?

If so, we invite you to join Alpha at Holy Cross – a set of weekly evening gatherings that will explore these questions.

Each gathering consists of a dinner followed by a short video and small group discussion. Alpha 2026 begins on Friday, January 9th at 6:30pm at the parish and is free of charge.

We’re welcoming all men and women who haven’t taken Alpha before, to come join us. There will be childminding available for children five years old and up (toilet-trained a requirement).

Alpha is open to all faith traditions as well as to individuals with no religious affiliation.

Alpha has changed countless lives. To get a taste of what Alpha is about, watch the short video at this link Alpha Stories – Father Michael Leclerc, St. Ignatius of Loyola on how Alpha transformed a parish in Montreal.

To join Alpha 2026 at Holy Cross, sign up here. Holy Cross Alpha Registration Form 2026. We hope to see you on January 9th!
