After listening to Premier John Horgan’s announcement of slowly easing COVID 19 restrictions, I believe that it is now safe to reopen our church for private prayer and adoration.
Beginning Monday, May 11, the side door of the church will remain open from 10 am to 4 pm to allow a limited number of people to be in the Church at one time. Please ensure the following: 1) Always make sure that you follow and are mindful of the social distance regulations. 2) Always leave a distance of two pews behind and in front of someone that has already been seated. 3) Always make sure that you have hand sanitizer with you, and reduce the amount touching of surfaces, etc. 4) Also, never go into the sacristy or sanctuary. This may sound harsh, but it is necessary to ensure the safety of Fr. Konrad and myself. 5) The adoration chapel will also be open with a limit of 2 people at one time.
Masses will continue to be celebrated behind closed doors, but I look forward to the day when it will be possible to recommence daily Masses and other liturgies with small numbers present.
This first stage of reopening of our Church is in response to the deep need for our parishioners, many of whom have been isolated for weeks, to come and visit their local church and offer a prayer of thanksgiving.
As a strong Parish and Church Community, let us remain faithful to do as much as we can for each other and continue to pray for each other in these challenging times.
